Could this be for the Kampfpistole?

I bought this one on ebay some time ago but never had the time to study it until now. I thought it would be to store flare gun ammo, but when taking a closer look, it looks like the catridges that it used to hold had a some what ballshaped tip. (This I can see from the marks in the padding at the bottom of the box). Have any of you any information on such a box? Anyone.....help....!
