Smooth leather 98k ammo pouches?

Hello, colleagues!
I saw lots of grainy leather ammo pouches for 98k. But I never saw such ones, made of:
1) non-grainy (smooth, plain) leather,
2) pre******223;toff, leatherette.
Were these whenever? Could anybody enlighten me...

I like to say there are a lot of smooth leather pouches around both WW I + II. I have some myself but I don't have pic for the moment.
