I picked these two head phones up today, one is dated 42 (has leather wrap around the head band) the other is 43 and the head band is missing the leather wrap, also the plugs are different. The ear pieces on both are stamped "Dfh.a", but the 42 has another stamp in the middle within a hexagon "BAL 1231". Also does anyone know the price for these? Thanks for your assistance.

Hi
The headphones you show here isn't what we normally would call Panzer phones they look totally different. Those two pair's you have are in different executions but of the same type as the stamp say's Dfh.a (doubbel fernhörer. a type) as far as I know. They saw widespread use among all brances but naturally in the signal troops and radio airplane crew.
The value hmm I got a few from German Ebay years back for around 50 Euros but Ebay prices flucturate quit a lot. The conditions have influence too as on everything else.

The correct terminology is Doppelfernhörer model A. True panzer headsets were Doppelfernhörer Model B. They had the broad leather covered headband and padded rubber earcups. These model A's are signals types. Model B's go for ludicrous prices, especially if they have the rubber earcups. These A's would price at about maybe $100 ? Pricing is really whatever the seller wishes in my experience !!

Panzer Head Phones
Here are some pics of my panzer/AFV headphones.
As you can see from the pics they are quite sturdy in construction. The piviots give the earsets a great deal of movement.
The rubber "muffs" helped muffel much of the engine noice ect so that you could actualy hear what was being broadcast over the system.
Many of the vets I have talked with loved these sets and hated to have to use the radio types.Attached Files

Sammler,
Nice headsets, man ! I just won another set of Dfh.B's on Epray, 1944 dated. I now have two sets the other dated 1940. That makes two complete sets with the two sets of Kmf.B's (Kehlkopfmikrofon) that I have. If I could afford more, I'd get them, but they are SOOOO expensive it makes it real hard ! Good sets with decent rubber muffs are hard to find, and then go for big bucks. I'll post pics in a while, moving house right now.
Do you know the difference between the mikes with two the "bumps" on the exterior of the round section and those without? I can find no reference anywhere, no-one seems to be able to shed light on them.
