Holster ID?

Hello,
I recently picked up this german holster from a WWII Veteran. It looks almost unused. I was wondering if someone might be able to ID what type it is? On the back is a tiny,tiny eagle on a swastika and below it is some letters/numbers I can't make out then the number "44"". I'll also post a picture of what looks like a mint German canteen that was in a box of stuff I just picked up. Anyhow,if someone might be able to ID the holster that would be good.

holster looks like P-38 holster...
canteen is very late war propably 44 made, and straps are set wrong

PS canteen is sweet !!!! dont You want to sell it ? hahaahah

Thanks for the information! Actually, I'm probably going to part with both the holster and canteen. The straps are probably set wrong because I took the stuff off to check the canteen out without the cover,etc. It's beautiful inside and out. Regards, Steve

Yes, I agree a p38 holster and I would suspect a "cxb" maker mark between the loops?
