Metal Documents Case? What are they?

Hell all, Does anyone know what the original function of these metal cases were or have the original German nomenclature for them which might add light to their purpose?
I have seen them called company document cases, but some seem to dispute that.
Thanks a lot for any help.

Those are for clothes, qnd usually found in offc estates, hence their german name Offiziers-Kiste.

Doc boxes are made of wood.

The boxes were not for clothes, they were general utility transport boxes, originally for tropical use (hence the rubber seal band).

But it is right that every soldier tried to get one for his clothes. The common names are "Tropenkiste", "Offizierskiste", "Dokumentenkiste", also sometimes "Tropenpackkiste". I think Tropenpackkiste is the most corrrect term, because I donĀ“t read an official term for it until now.

Maybe here is anyone who has a HDv with a name? I have 6 boxes and none has a label or stencil in it.

      Bye
