    HIAG "Viking Ship" Pin

    Hi Everyone,

I just wondered if anyone knows what timeframe this HIAG pin belongs to? It looks like an early one to me - 50's?

Also, note that the maker is an old favourite - Hoffstaetter!

    All the best,
    Toby.

      Toby,
very interesting pin, Hoffstaetter did also make a lot of other HIAG pins as well, the early ss vets magazine was called WIKING ruff (hope i have it right) i guess its related to that and would be from the early 50's,
      cheers,
      gary

            Hi Gary,

Thanks for replying. Is it possible to see the obverse of the pins you posted? And if you don't mind, can you tell us anything about your friend?

            All the best,
            Toby.

Nearly right Gary, "WIKING-RUF" Although I believe Hiag was founded earlier their first magazine which also displayed a Viking ship was produced in January 1954, so you could assume the badge was around that period, "very nice badge" by the way.

                Regards Keith

For anyone who's interested, here is the former owner's DRL sports book.

The gold pin is the HIAG Enrennadel in Gold. I was awarded the first (along with an award document) to an American (for Waffen-SS research) in 1987.
