I have a guy in town that has some pins and medals for sale that he said his grandfather brought back from the war. He has this SS Membership pin and took several photos, but seem too blurry. Is it real or repro from the photos? If it is real how much do I offer him?

Complete fantasy. Original SS membership badges were in stick pin form only and never had white enameled runes. The diameter of the original stick pin badges are much smaller, (although there are two different sizes for originals). These fantasy SS badges are made up more like an NSDAP membership badge and also have bogus markings. These are very common. I bought one as a fake years ago for around $5.00. If you do a search for SS membership badge, (Hoffstatter or Gahr), you will find lots of info on the subject.

Thanks guys! I figured it was a fake and you guys just confirm it. Doing a search on the internet only comes up with reproductions and the only original ones that I found were the stickpins.Comment
