Even repro the pictures with the fez + white badges are interesting ?
The soldiers are wearing german polizei jackets without badges ?
Looks like some kind of Bosnian Auxiliaries ?
              Never seen before ...

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

It’s a Bosnian Muslim militia of Huska Miljkovic, a very colorful character. He had 3000 men under his command (Western Bosnia region) and first supported Nazi-satellite Croatian Ustasha regime, then deserted them and joined Tito’s Partizans, then deserted Partizans and re-joined Ustasha state in 1943, only to skip the boat again in early 1944 and joined Partizans receiving a rank of colonel, I believe. One of his own men ended up killing him in the end.

By the way, that fez and all other “Handschar” fezzes are all horrible fakes, nothing good about any of it.

And ironically the same thing happened in 1992-95 with Fikret Abdic in the exact same region (Cazin and area) who decided to side with the Krajina Serbs and fight his own people from Bihac. Its not unusual for some areas to flip flop depending on who is in charge, there were lots of examples of families with one kid on both sides to see who wins and to save the family, the same as in this recent war. There were other occasions where enemies fought together for a period and then flip flopped back to normal sides, historically speaking nobody local is surprised when that happens in Bosnia and that happened also in WW2 right up until the last minute prior to the Bleiburg marches (which with all due respect Srebrenica was only a tiny operation compared to).

I've seen the Fez only in a photo with a cigarette case, and this is the first Fez i've seen. In Yugoslavia there were not any Partisan films which showed this kind of Fez as far as i know, its very interesting.

                              Best Regards,

                              Pete
