    The Hellenborg group

    Good evening gents!

I would like to post the Yngve Hellenborg group - A swedish Waffen SS volunteer who went to SS Schule Tölz. At least part of the group has been posted on the forum in the past - but not by me. Thought it was a nice idea to bring it out from the safe and make a few pictures.

The group was found in Stockholm 2006 by polish construction workers who found it hidden in a wall. It was sold to two polish collectors. It was split in half. I acted quickly to be the first to purchase one of the halfes. The other half included an SS officer belt buckle, some personal effects and more sport badges/medals.

The most important piece is of course the elusive SS Tuxedo badge. The badge is complete with back plate, screws and the red cloth on the reverse of the skull. Correctly marked on the reverse with Rzm and M1/21. There are remnants of topping compound in the lower left corner. I have not cleaned it.

There is also a SS officer flatwire eagle and an officer collar tabs pair. The story about Hellenborg is that he went to train at SS Schule Tölz to become an officer but he got problems with his health, the heart and could not continue. He was offered a place as instructor but he was not interested in that. The rank tab was never fitted with pips, hence. The two metallic strips with his name is most likely from his Soldatenspind in Tölz. Somewhere along the way he added a von to his name. Not the first person in history to do that.

The rest of my part of the group is mostly personal effects and sport medals but also a medal from Finland. Helleborg took part as swedish volunteer in the winter war against the soviet forces. He also kept two post cards of the Fuhrer.
