What happened to him at the end of WWII?
Where did he go, what did he do.

Müller most probably committed suicide in the RSHA-Reichsluftfahrtministerium area on May 1st when the death of Hitler was announced, before the ill-fated breakthrough that took place during the night of May 1st to May 2nd on the Weidendammer Brücke. The area was still under the control of the French SS "Charlemagne" Sturmbataillon remnants up to the morning of May 2nd (the French SS didn't had the signal of the breakthrough, so they kept their positions).

Gregory Douglas (pseudonym) published starting from 1998 some fantasy accounts of Müller being a CIA informant in the USA after the war, and like for other "missing" high-ranking nazis, many stories surfaced since 1945 of Müller being "alive and well" somewhere on Earth (cf Ladislas Farago book on Bormann).

Müller body was put - like thousand of other dead German soldiers - in some mass graves after the fights, the same happened for Bormann (who was part of the breakthrough convoy).

Bormann’s remains was found in 1972, the dental records showed that it was Bormann. There is no evidence that Müller died at the end of the war! The CIA rumours is just that, rumours...

This and the lack of information makes his disappearance highly interesting.

There is more plausibility in this scenario that all the fantasy tales told by other (monetary) sources.

People implying mystery over more plaisible explanations usually totally forgot the condition of the disappearance of Müller = total chaos of Berlin, in which life didn't matter or so, and in which death can happen very easily, even more for "famous" people that would be hard to hide (to the contrary of many "simple" SS soldiers that were able to hide and escape) and would be easily recognized. If Müller was first buried near the Reichsluftfahrtministerium, it imply that he lost his life in the last dozen of hours of the fights in this area, and as the frontline there was on the responsability of the "Charlemagne" Sturmbataillon remnants, we may plausibly said that or Müller committed suicide, or he was killed in the last hours of the fights (like was the ordnance officer of Krukenberg, Valentin Patzak, who went MIA during his mission to pass the message of the breakthrough on the evening of May 1st to the remnants of the Sturmbataillon "Charlemagne").

Hauptamtschef and Amtschef titles are very rare. Never found a loose original one. Some delight collections have tunics with such titles. Lower rank Amt titles are even more rare to find then the HA Chef title for my view.
