Was the dot 44 uniform worn on its own in place of the wool uniform, or was it worn over the wool uniform?

For jackets, there’s photos of both the above. Usually dependent on climate.

Bith, but a lot of soldiers used it on its own. They tailored it to have more a closer fit, or leaved it to be roomy for more mobility.

As far as I know, they supposed to be a replacment, in longer period of time , for wool uniforms ( in other words suppose to replace the wool garment ) and supposed to be worn all year, but at the very begining were used as camo over jackets in first place and 'summer' jackets in hot warm months.

Both variants were in common use ( as camo over jacket or used as seperate one ) and period photos show it very well.
