"Furthermore, all Zimmermann skulls are marked "499/41", but we can see several remains of what appears to be "M1/72" behind every "499/41" marked skull."

This again could explained by the lack of demand after 1939 of RZM badges for the Allgemeine-SS. With probably enough skulls in stock to meet what little demand there was for privately purchased badges the die was now used to produce skulls for the supply system of the Waffen-SS, hence the SS code.

Lastly, "We also have the maker marked "S. P. 40" and "E. S. P. F." marked pieces that were made of aluminum and CupAl, clearly not being RZM marked at all."

The first one being dated 1940 I presume again would be more likely making badges for the SS supply system and not the RZM but as to why they did not have or use an SS contract code is beyond me. Could they be makers outside of Germany?
Has anyone ever worked out what the initials stand for on these badges?

        "E.S. P.F." & "S.P. 40", was IMO, "Eugen Schmidhausler - Pforzheim".
