    SS Shoulder Straps

    Hi friends,
recovered lately, these pairs of SS-shoulder straps. But I do not know if they are authentic or reproductions. Maybe a few could help me? Thank you in any case for your kindness.

These all look suspect to me
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Hi Lenny W, thank you for your appreciation. Could you enlighten me a bit more about what makes you these suspicious shoulder straps? To determine authenticity or not, all reviews are welcome and welcome of course!
            Cheers

The straps look flimsy, button holes and bar tacks. looks like a few have ddr post war tresse, tongue material and the way there sewn

Thank you for these clarifications. About the tresse I found this link, very interesting:http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...+german+tresse
I also compared under the black light a tresse post WW2 and I join two of the photos. None of the shoulder straps are responsive to black light. Can I deduce that the tresse of my shoulder straps are pre 1945 or not?
Does anyone have anything new to offer?
                The debate remains open!
                Cheers
                Andrew

                  I concur.

                  Here are my 2 cents:
On pair A I don't like the twill fabric and the tight zig-zag stiching on the tongue, the 3 part wool backing, the buttonholes look flimsy (are they hand sewn?) and the piping tape looks like cotton instead of rayon.
Pair B needs some further inspection (what's the fabric on the tongue?), but I don't like the narrow and tight zig-zag stitching.
Pair C has cut-after buttonholes that are also wrong side up on the tongues.
Pair D looks completely off the scale, the fabric on the tongue looks like the lining found in overcoat sleeves (made from a salvaged overcoat perhaps?).
And as Lenny also has noted, they all have the enlongated diamond Tresse of which some look like post war NVA.

All in all I wouldn't bet my money on any of them.

                  Best regards,
                  Andy

Thank you Andy for your participation. I note all your remarks. For pair A, the buttonholes are solid and buttonhole-shaped, not by hand. I do not know if the piping is rayon or cotton; but was there ever any cotton piping on the shoulders straps during the war?
For the pair B, the fabric of the tongue is black cotton cloth, the piping is in yellow rayon. On the C pair, the buttonholes are machine-made and identical on both sides. For the diamond Tresse, there is always debate, it seems to me, but what is the characteristic of the NAVA that differentiates them from those of elongated diamond that were well produced during the war?

                    Best regards
                    Andrew
