In response to an ad, a fellow showed me some items that he said his father brought back from the war. Besides numerous Luftwaffe insignia, including 16, 3" sew on eagles, he had the following. As I am no expert on SS insignia, and the copying going on today, I ask for assistance in determining authenticity. All I saw today have that old "look" and smell. They were all in dirty boxes and just kind of lumped together! The first item I found on Bill Shea's website and I believe is an SS Oberfurhers tabs. The second, I don't know what it is. What a shame this buckle is all corroded. It could have been real nice.
I used Adobe photoshop to adjust the contrast so I could read the unit and serial number on the dogtag. I hadn't copied that information down, and all I had was the photo to work with after the guy left. The colors are good, but don't look it on the screen.Comment

Nos. 3 & 4 show a nice early SS sports vest badge......before they reversed the colours. Original and scarce. Worth about $300.Comment

Thank you both. He had other items including an Artillery Officers overseas cap which had a few moth holes and numerous insignia stitched to it. Apparently his dad was a horder and got bored with all this loose stuff laying around. I have to meet again with this guy in a few days. SteveComment
