Gau Essen belt buckle with tab - is it OK?

Here is a belt buckle I just received. It is pebbled nickel with traces of green paint on the reverse side, and a leather tab marked "Julius Maurer Oberstein/Nahe 1938". Any opinions on it?

Absolutely correct but both parts were not factory joined, as a note the buckle was made by Assmann
