Collar tab, but for who?

Hi guys.

I posted a question about some tab in the Heer forum (since I think its a Heer tab), but I dont get any answers there. Maybe I posted it in the wrong forum, maybe you guys can help me out?

I just bought a small lot. One thing that came a long seems to be a collar tab, but its without marking or symbol, which makes that I have no idea if what it can be.

A friend proposed that it could have been worn by a gunner on a Sturmgeschutz.

I would like to have your opinions on what this could be.

Is it even a period original tab?

I think your guess of a sturmgeschutz soldat is closer to the mark.

No holes in the back, no shadow or imprint of a Red Cross on the front.

I have really searched and I just cant find out what could have been stitched to this one. By the holes I was just first thinking that it could have been similar to an infantry collar tab, but since it's much thinner - it cant be that. Or, maybe the HEER tabs are also this thin, and it could be a stripped HEER tab?
