    Allgemeine Tab and Board Good?

I don't know much about these and I know there are a lot of fakes of these around. Please let me know what you think about this pair. I am a little worried that the flaps on the back may be too big?

Ahhh...I thought something didn't look right after comparing to originals. Dangerous fake I'd say!!!! Wow.

I've probably spent a half hour trying to make myself believe the tab. I really wanted it to be good so I could add it to the collection, but just this morning I reached a final decision: It's not for me.

            1. Really difficult to see the details in the candy stripe piping, but I think it's reproduction. And certain details in its application are odd. I think the same cord is used on the shoulder board, so I must question the board also.

            2. Minor details in the numbers are not what we usually see. Everything is just a smidgeon off. Hard to explain.

            3. The embroidery is a little sloppy overall.

            4. In order for the snow white buckram to be correct, all of the glue would have to have been washed out, but the tab doesn't appear to have been washed. And again, we just can't quite make out the details of the weave.

            5. I don't care for the way the flaps are configured on the back side. Is that white stuff glue??

            6. I'd like to see at least a hint of an RZM tag, but there doesn't seem to be any. But by itself, that isn't a problem.

            Just my observations and opinions.

here is one for reference, note also the typical buckram and how straight the lines are comapared to the one above.
From the reverese photo revers is the right one (w/o the piping).
Quality matters and quality make one lookers.

Thank god for this forum and to the people who have shared their knowledge from years of experience. Not to mention all the money I've saved over the years. The Germans really did make quality stuff that's hard to recreate exactly. Awesome original tabs I might add!!

good discussion, many thanks especially to Robert H. since I was also considering the purchase, but was for some reason unsure. I did not like much the piping and also it looks really new, it does not look 80+ years old, it looks new. Hav never seen so white numbers on such old item ... .
