    Cased SS Cufflinks

    Hi Guys,
Hope you could take a look at these for me?
I like the patina, the bubbling on the surface from baking the enamel, the hammered ends are also a nice touch. The case looks period.
As with any SS pieces I know fakes abound.
Thanks for all your opinions and taking a look.
    Nathan

Hi Nathan - do the runes appear to be set in to the enamel or raised? Do they appear to be part of the link or separately set pieces?

I believe they are a part of the link.

It can clearly be seen that someone already did a hot pin test at some time
(top left side) that is no enamel!

Thanks Alex for your reply. I am sorry I have to disagree with you.
Those are bubbles from air pockets popping when the enamel is baked.
This photo is 100% bigger than in person and the light is just right.

Also the metal from the runes and the exterior would hold heat longer than the center portions. This is why the bubbling is more concentrated in those areas.

The close-up doesn’t help it’s case, imho.... looks like a messy quick enamel to me, with cut outs in the rune pattern. I can’t see an officer of the ss wanting to wear these to a dinner with the führer. I’d never present these to an ss officer either if I were a jeweler in the third Reich:...

Last photos you posted clearly prove what i was saying, that is not an enamel you want to see on a real original enameled ss items being ring or a cufflink.

As for me mentioning the enamel baking process, here is a textbook DKiG by 134 and a Gold Party Badge by Deschler. You can see the exact same bubbling.
Again they are magnified and at just the right angle.
Thanks everyone for taking a look.

                              just an observtion.

The sig runes are not the same sizes on each cufflink, which would worry me!
