E.Reitz
E.Reitz produced uniformes until 08/1944.
The factory was literally on the front line from sept 4th 1944 till oct 5th 1944
The factory was looted on sept 4th.
So this narrows their line of production down to 01/01/1941 - 04/09/1944.
So out of your 18 months, only 10 remain.
So all production stopped on that date.
The last orders I found (1944) were for the Heeresbekleidungsamt in Hannover. For the SS there were only orders for Drillich uniforms.
The only two solid confirmed headgear items they produced were toques ( Kopfhauben) for the winter uniform and cloth helmet covers.
There are no documents or pictures that confirm that they ever produced any headgear other than these two.
Also the 24 former employees I interviewed never mentioned headgear other than the winter uniform toques.
The stamp is well executed and looks a lot like this one below (see thread http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=reitz+wrapper )
I can't judge the cap construction wise since I'm no expert in that field.
All I can say is that there is no solid proof in documents or pictures that they ever made other headgear than the ones mentioned above.
and IF this cap would be the real thing, than this would be the first one I ever encounterd in my 36 years of collecting E.Reitz items.
Question you have to ask yourself is : would you buy the cap if it didn't have the maker mark stamp ?
On my website I showed all known fake stamps so far. The one in the cap isn't one of them.
So or you have a one-of-a-kind cap here of which no collector has ever seen one alike before...or some creative mind decided to put a maker stamp in an original (?) or very well made repro cap in order to give it's price a boost.
Your call !

Interesting thread,
the fonts on the two stamps do indeed appear to mirror match each other,
