Why would he use his nickname "Sepp" on his card and also, the name of the division was "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler" and nothing else.

But maybe good ol' Sepp forgot about all that when he ordered the card, he might have been in a hurry

I have never seen a card exactly like this one, but it does resemble other cards and letters I own from Sepp Dietrich.

In my personal opinion this card has a good chance of being original pre-'45.

Btw, these were not exactly calling cards, but cards meant to accompany gifts, etc.

I use the same when I send out books to friends, presents, etc. pp.

          Markus.

From mid-1944, he obtained his unique 'Panzer General' title, but that came with him moving to Oberstgruppenfuhrer rank (one of only 4 to hold that rank and 1 of only 2 Waffen-SS soldiers).

For me, if original, details like this would be exact. You would not get a rank so rare, then not use it! Also, do not think the 'Sepp' element would be used either.

However, maybe others have a better insight and can enlighten.

Any providence with it / the source?

No way during wartime, ever heard of OPSEC? You need to brush up on WWII history!

By mid-1944 (August) he was already "SS-Oberst-Gruppenführer und Panzer-Generaloberst der Waffen-SS".

I have to double-check with my manuscript for the biography when he obtained the rank of "Panzer-General der Waffen-SS".

                          Cheers
