"Custom" LSSAH Panzer Oveseas Cap Photo ++

This photo recently obtained by a friend of mine with an absolute Top-End SS Panzer photo collection. Heavily cropped from a Studio Photo, this is a superb example of a black NSKK Overseas cap modified by this LSSAH Panzerman into an (un)"Official SS” Panzer Overseas Cap (removal of both NSKK Buttons and addition of a black-backed SS Panzer Skull [Skull only in this case]). While such period practice was not uncommon, what is uncommon is to see the end result of this practice on period film. For anyone who has missed this - which probably is not be many of you as this thread is indeed a WAF “Classic” – here is an fine example of a 12th SS “HJ” Panzermann - a “Panthermann” actually - writing home to his mother clearly with the the same “Custom” job in mind if she could not purchase him another official SS Panzer issue Overseas Cap (note the Skull on the front of his actual issue SS Panzer Overseas Cap clearly must have made his mother somewhat squeamish ).

Very interesting and raises the question, from where would his Mother acquire a cap and a bunch of cufftitles from and how was she supposed to get them to him in Normandy?

Looks like an army panzer M-42 cap to me.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.
