Waffen SS Ring - Canadian Veteran Bringback

The son of a Canadian soldier brought this ring to show me.

It is marked inside "835 / F / * / unknown".

Supposedly the father told him "I took this off the smallest SS man that I have ever seen".

Any help on identifying this ring or opinions on originality would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom.

Based on these photos look original canteen ring made by Laurin (Ln). These were in wear by SS as well as Heer, LW, civilians etc. etc. Not really SS ring. Anyone could wear it.
