SS visor cap skull and eagle

Dear all, I got a visor cap which is apparently good but regarding the authenticity of the skull and eagle, there are different opinions in the room. Would very much appreciate all your comments.

IMO skull is not orginal.
Assman type copy.
Im not eagle exper but I do not like it-pls wait for other members opinions about eagle

As Peter says the skull is 100% a fake of the Assmann style ... one never found on black SS visors to my knowledge.


The eagle I'm not so sure about, there looks to be a casting line from the eye downwards diagonally but please wait for Chris SSCollector.

The eagle and skull both appear to be second generation reproductions, imo. The skull is based off the first generation Austrian fake design and the eagle is based off the original Assmann eagle design, as are most of these second generation "475" style reproductions that come with many different marking codes, (most of which are completely bogus numbers). The fakers stopped using their original "360/380" style eagle front die at some point, and many more fakes were created later with more similarities to an Assmann eagle than the previous ones that looked more like a Wagner.
Also, these later reproductions are cast, whereas the first generation fakes were die struck.

Of course, a quick shot of the back side would confirm, but I am very confident that is the case here.

Thanks very much Peter, Ian and Chris for you honest answer. You just prevented me from spending too much money. This gives room for negotiation with the actual owner.

Keep an eye on the Estand page for CupAl insignia … ask the seller to put it on hold and get it checked out here … unless of course the owner hasn't already had it checked out positively before advertising it.
