    Sooooo, What are the odds...

That this is legit? I found this in a costume shop that is going out of business. As you can see it is a wreck, but a good beginning for a restoration, if it is real...

    So, what say you?

You can make out the shadow of where the adler and skull used to be...

      Cap

Well, for one thing, it's in Italian......"Leggero" means "light" or "lightweight".
It would be nice if it turns out to be Italian SS.
The experts here can tell you whether or not the Italian SS wore a standard SS eagle.
Not sure about that piping though.......
Good luck finding a visor for it, but anything is possible.

The Italians made beautiful quality visor caps which were nothing like this monstrosity.

This monstrosity is the remains of a once nice hat. It is a survivor from a costume shop and was on the bottom of a huge pile of uniforms of various vintage.
The material is high quality, and the construction that is still extant is very good.

Yes, this is now a monstrosity, but it was originally a damned nice hat.

There's something weird about the coloring of the piping.
It sort of comes and goes, don't think I've seen another like it.
                  Not like a single color?

Yeah, it is. The entire body of the hat is a mess. It was torn apart, and used to make other hats depending on what they needed at least three different times. I tried to find other parts but this was all i could find. I wouldn't think twice about it except for the fact that the material is correct, the construction that remains is good, and I picked it up for 5 bucks, so if it is real great, and if not, who cares.

What I would like though, is for the people who are experts to look at the material, and not the condition. This thing has lived a real hard life.

It looks like it was colored by a felt pen.
