    Totenkopf skull for review

Could I get your opinions on this skull.

It is die struck very thin but strong non magnetic material but not aluminum. There is one cut off pin very securely fastened and the other totally missing. There are 6 small holes that appear punched from the backside out. Two holes on each cross bone side, one hole at the top of the skull and one hole at the jaw. It is a little larger on the flat dimensions than my Deschler M1/52 and a little thinner on the cross section. I can not see any maker marks.

    Thank you for your input.
    Steve

It's a fake of the Overhoff design.

Very common, die struck fake. These come in many different materials, such as alumimum, brass, or tin.

          Hope this helps!

Thank you all for your replies. It is appreciated.

Figured it was a fake just wanted to be sure. It was found inside a bread bag so no money invested.

Two kinds of fakes for me , those that are just fake and sold as such and those who were fake aged to deceive. Somebody has been aging this one .

Thought it was an original overhoff from the front, then I saw the back.....

Yes the back is a big red flag for sure.

Does anyone know what these 6 holes are? Are they the fakers attempt to make it look like it was reworked to be sewn on after loosing its pins?

I have not seen another example in any of the threads I looked at.

Hi Steve, probably exactly that ... unless some re-enactor spoilt his pride and joy.

                      Cheers, Ian.
