SS TK button

I have this TK button about 25 years but before sending on the e-stand I need your confirmation.
The front is made of steel (magnetic), the back side looks aluminum.

This button just BEGS the question:
What possessed someone to saw through the loop?
The "S" ring that holds it on the cap is removable.
Not criticizing the piece, but does make you wonder what happened.

Doesn't really detract from the piece though, IMO.
I had a fake version I bought many, many years ago at a gun show and only much later found out it was a stinker.
Ironically, the detail was more perfect than an original!
I finally got an original....but green, marked SS, RZM, and 1194/41.
Nice button!

Thanks for your comments. It seems that "S ring" was too complicated to use for someone (and the pliers were nearby).
