I,ve seen these SS NCO collar tabs being offered in an upcoming auction. Are they right? I know SS stuff is heavily faked so would appreciate an information on these.

I wouldn't buy these. The runes look sloppy, and the tag looks like a fake.

are the lines of the Tag narrowed? when the tab is good the runes are very very ugly and the tag lines are very strange, maybe the lines are narrow from the photo quality?

for me not original, and pimped up with red ink.
                        Maybe from a printer?

All of late war runes are bad in quality. The red inscription does not add the value to the tag. If the tag is fake there must be similar quality tags around. The zig-zag is just a picture quality, it can be seen by the edge of the tag, and the thread on it, which is also blurry

the runes are absolute different! the last shown rune tab is a one looker original tab.

Please look at the edges of the runes and compare.

The line error is not an error of the photo, you see clear the zick-zack on both photos from different distances what is typical from a printer.

The runes which started this thread (post number 1) look to be original but embroidered by a less experienced person when compared to the runes in post number 13.

The reason for this is simple, they were running out of trained staff to make these after 1943. Plus there was a huge increase in demand because of the expansion of the Waffen SS going on.

Thus they had to train new people how to make these or even press-gang labor into service from other parts of the Reich. Sadly this means that the finished product and exact standards of prewar or early war could not always be achieved later in the war.

In my experience, sometimes NCO runes are not up to the quality of officer runes. May be staff under training made NCO runes to gain experience and quality control deemed them not suitable to be finished off for officer purchase ?

The backing material looks to be Moleskin/ Velveteen which is a plus in my book,

                              Chris

p.s. I am not commenting about the label. That is a seperate discussion for those who are into SS labels.
