    SS Armband

I've never seen one like this. is it a known variation?

is it some early, pre RZM armband?
it shows a lot of age.
    thanks

I don't think anyone said they weren't real, as I recall the consensus was that they vary so much in construction that it is very difficult to give a definitive opinion on them. I have frequently said that if you want an example of an SS armband it would be a wise move to stick to the standard, textbook, wool example ... they are plentiful and still relatively cheap.

The subject piece is not one I would want personally.

Cotton SS armbands are frequently difficult. They are mostly pre-RZM and there are many, many construction techniques. But, a chain stitched swastika is highly unusual on any party organization armband.

I don’t think I would be in a hurry to add this one to my collection. Excellent provenance could change my mind. Usually, I like chain stitched items, but this one just doesn’t do anything for me. Better pictures could help. It has quite a bit of age, but the age doesn’t look totally convincing to me. On the other hand, the proportions look OK, the white field is nice and round and the swastika is fairly well formed

NickG could well be correct. There are indeed some early movie / TV props that used chain stitching.

At any rate, at $379, this one is too expensive, so for me, originality becomes a moot point.

I would also pass. It looks like a prop to me as well, in that it would look fine from a distance but not up close under scrutiny.
