    Reich tunic on E-stand

I think all serious collectors have seen this Reich tunic that's up for sale.
    Any red flags?
I would like to hear your comments on it.

    Cheers

Hardly any wear. Interesting name cut out. Looks like done with scalpel type of knife. Any overcut damage done to underlying liner that could be done during cutting out the name tag?

It is a wonderful tunic. No idea why the name would be cut out. Unless there is ironclad provenance as to the owner, I would not pay the price listed. If undoubtedly attributable then the price is not too crazy, imo.

Big unknown with those mint, barely worn tunics is that they show very little wear signs that help to judge when insignia could have been applied. It is crucial to get an idea if it is restored or untouched.

Is there any provenance with that tunic or some kind of chain of ownership?

It resides in Spain and was supposedly broken up from a family group offered in Germany and it all survived with award documents
(DKG etc) and even came with the officers assault gun wrapper tunic and those were kept together which helped indentify this
otherwise nameless tunic... So the name is now known the seller claims and will be revealed to the buyer (so after the purchase)
the seller states... But why not give it away now? and have the provenance available to sell this at big bucks removing any doubts.

Strange indeed. Provenance is very important with those items. I agree it is up to the seller whether he wants to disclose that information, or he wants to keep it as a secret. By doing the latter however the sale becomes like you "have to buy it to see what is inside". Big unknown for 15k. It would be interesting to see a link to other items and the tunic being as a part of former larger estate. That makes those items more interesting and gives opportunities to deeper study.

                        hello
the owner of the tunic was Rudolf Garscha.

The tunic has a nice story behind. Owner's tag is present, but, unfortunately, name has been cut-off. Following the date of issue of the tunic, the awards earned by that date, the red waffenfarbe and the number on the shoulder boards, everything points to a well known officer. But I had no evidence of his ownership.

First time I tried to sell it the former owner saw my thread and send me an e-mail. He told me that he got my tunic along preliminary and formal DKiG documents and the StuG wrap. the stug wrap still keeps owner's tag in full. he confirmed my thoughts, whole lot came from garscha's relatives. he sold my tunic to another collector and kept the wrap and the documents. I have pics of both tunics and the documents from the very first time but, as I'm not the owner of the other items I can't post them.
