The auction houses are just as bad - worse - than the individuals on Ebay and the like, because they know they're selling crap but don't care. 50-65% commission they get paid for their 'alleged ' expertise and they screw people over.

There must be thousands of newbies - like myself - who pay the money and trust their opinions and black type and guarantees only to be stuck with junk.
If real from a credible dealer an allgemeine visor is $6000 USD and up , that's why I haven't bought one, it's more than I want to spend. If you are trying to get one cheap then the risk of being burned goes up in my experience. I think we all dream of a garage sale find for cheap but it's a pig in a poke.

Actually, what I would say is that over here things are not so pricey as in Canada and definitely the States when it comes to SS peaked caps, especially NCO's. I'm not sure there is such an ardent following for them, and also far less collectors and dealers who specialise in SS. Still ridiculous prices, though, for what they actually are. It's also very much a taboo area for a hobby over here. People tend to think your weird if you show any interest in WW2 collecting, especially German and especially SS.

Lol here too. If you collect this stuff you must be a nazi right ? No one can possibly like this stuff from a historical standpoint is the politically correct wind that blows here.
I hope you find your visor, I'd like one too.
