    Zyklon 100g

A disturbing item. However, I think it is important not to forget. Ive run it by a few collectors, they are telling me original. Anyone see it as a fake?

              100% fake for me.....IMO

1/ Never seen an original Degesch label with black borders top and bottom like that.

2/ Font is wrong in the wording. (In particular, the letter "G")

3/ Never seen a Zyklon-B can with ridges around it where the label is stuck on...this label shown appears to have been on a can with ridges around it.

However I would like to hear other opinions as I'm always open to learn something new.
Zyklon-B was used both before and after the war and this label could be a variation that I've not seen before, but at the moment I still believe it to be a fake. If anyone can show a picture of a genuine Degesch label with those black borders I'd be very interested to see it.

Why would 'Für schädlingsbekämpfung' be written in one word at the left and in two words at the right?

                  Because it's a fake...IMO

Here's how a 100g Zyklon-B label by Degesch should look like, showing it should be two words on both sides.

yes interesting.. I inherited a bunch of them a Uncle had brought home years ago. He was some kind of investigator after the war and helped during the Nuremberg trials. ..

They were in a photo type album and there seemed to be different kinds, as in size, height etc. Some very brittle , some that were never applied to a can .. There were triplicates of each type.. I made a large set and actually traded them for a great used car for my daughter at the time!
The rest I brought to the DC Holocaust museum with me while bringing some 'lend' items. They checked them thought all were authentic and from different time periods.
So there seemed to be more than one that was authentic to the period..
Holocaust items between the fakes/reproductions and lack of information etc. aren't something to just start collecting on a whim..

I wouldn't be interested in any of these, but beside of that I think that these are very easy to fake and how to prove if " originals " are related ?
Besides bring backs they're no more than a label of a can of soup, this stuff was used to kill bugs etc.. Could be, could be not stuff ..

                        Jos.

These labels came in many languages (including Swedish) as the Zyklon B was exported and used against bugs, lice and such nasty things, already before the war.
