Musician's Tabs, are they A-SS? NSKK? SA?

I had posted this weird set about ten years ago without much information. I recently posted them again (before posting them for sale) in the Political section. A member posted a SS member in a brown shirt wearing something similar but without the edge piping. The piping isn't the typical silver but looks like it's almost brown in color.

    Anyone seen anything like this?

Artificially aged fakes … look at the base material and wiry twist piping, classic 1970/80's fake.

I appreciate the opinions and won't be offering them for sale anywhere.

Seems like a lot of trouble to create....musicians tabs???

There was no trouble to make them … they were commonly sold as reproductions, the trouble was making them look twice as old as they really are. That piping is a dead give-away, a really advanced fake wouldn't be that easy to spot.

          Cheers, Ian.

It's all about the MONEY and what lengths a dishonest person will go to to separate an honest person from his hard earned money.

If a s**t bum can invest $30.00 in materials and 4 hours of time to sell his handiwork for $400.00 to $500.00, he is a very happy camper.

Can we be logical for a moment?

I bought these as a teenager in around 1974-1975. At that time in history a bevo tab sold everywhere for $10. I don't think that I could have paid more than $10-$15 for this set. I remember the fakes floating around then and they didn't include anything musician (nor railroad, RAD, NSKOV, etc...not to criticize anyone who collects those items). Musicians pieces weren't sexy enough to fake, and aren't in real demand now. Perhaps in the UK there was a flood of fake musicians tabs but they never made it to the Great Western Show in LA where I possibly picked these up.

You can all agree that these are not TR and that's fine as there is little investment by me here. Saying that these are "artificially aged fakes" is not logical in my opinion.

The wirey braid dates them to the 70s as has been said. They would have been as new in that decade.
Someone took a pair of blank repro tabs, stuck a set of musicians insignia on them and then sold them.
So if you bought them in this condition, then they had been bought new and aged to look old. Ergo by time period and when you say you bought them they must be artificially aged fakes. I'm pretty sure they're not a toaster for instance
I can see what you mean by your aguement but I'm not sure what your definition of artificially aged fakes would need to be for these to qualify, when by the evidence it's exactly what they are.

Easily found original devices added to standard fake blank piped tabs ?

We have nothing to gain by rubbishing your tabs, I hope you realise that we are just being straight with you.

                  Cheers, Ian.

Nick, how about posting a picture of a SA tab with an original metal device.

It comes down to this for me, some believe strongly that fake musicians tabs were being sold in the mid 1970's. I find this hard to believe since I was there then collecting actively. There were far fewer collectors for anything musician, just like RAD or railroad or similar organizations. This stuff was cheap, beyond cheap, and there was no market to fake this type of item since there was no money to be made.

I bought this for next to nothing at the time and in this condition. I find it more likely that they are non-military, perhaps they belonged to the band leader at Hamburg High in 1934.
