Allg. SS cuff title with no inscription?

    Hello,

    I own a SS Grenz-Polizei & SD photo album.

One photo shows an Allgemeine SS Untersturmführer with a cuff title with no inscription. He also wears the SD diamond on his left sleeve.
The other guys wear a Grenz-Polizei cuff title and the SD diamond.

On the Internet I found on Ed Hicks page an identical one. In his description he describes the cuff as SS Standarte Nürnberg and he also refers the cuff to the SD:

Was the Nürnberg cuff title really plain?

    Regards, Matthias

Both Sturmbann Nürnberg and the SD wore the plain cuff title and also other SS-VT branches like the SS Panzerabwehrabteilung.

This is not an Allgemeine Untersturmführer - he is wearing the black Service tunic and clearly identiefied as an SD member by his sleeve insignia.

    Best
    M.

Thank you very much for your detailed explanation.

So if not Untersturmführer, how was his rank called within the SD?

          Btw., great photos!

          Regards, Matthias

Ask yourself when the last time you saw a blank cufftitle for sale was … ?

Or a blank right-sided tab for that matter (and there must've been many thousands out there)

I was not refering to the rank - i was refering to the wrong describtion "Allgemeine SS" - this is wrong and often confused by collectors. The black Service tunic was worn by all branches of the SS and this SD man on your Picture has nothing to do with ALLGEMEINE SS - you described him as a member of the Allgemeine SS which is wrong in this case.

ALLGEMEINE SS IS NOT THE SAME AS SD.....

                  Here you go:

                  Standarte 87 - ALLGEMEINE SS

                  SD - SICHERHEITSDIENST

                  Totenkopfstandarte Oberbayern - SS TOTENKOPFVERBÄNDE

SS Standarte Deutschland - SS VERFÜGUNGSTRUPPE

All different branches wearing the same black Service tunic....

                  .........
