when they are really corroded like this,,or marked up bad with pock marks etc. Look at the letters/numbers very good..
What do you see here.. To me this looks like it was stamped over the marks/corrosion! and that can't be,,,so automatically No Good.. These things are tricky,,but check the the simpler things first. Things like this,,then or check if the unit ever existed in the first place.. Make sure the nomenclature is correct.. Check reverse too! Then if all that looks good then start looking for similar tags to compare fonts/numbers IF the roll numbers are pretty close.. See if they look like 'Rokas' fonts,,,or the newer tag fonts,,,,and you can always check the ID section here there are collectors there that are current with these and that helps the most!
Remember, being ground dug is not criteria for being a provenance,,AND, don't listen to stories,,the item has to stand on its own!
