Strange insignia application but seems to match up nicely.

Insignia looks good. Hat looks good. But I don't like the way it was applied.

                SS Cap

One last shot of the eagle block insignia. I have seen sort of a similar application on the SS camo caps. Thanks, Mark.

I think the insignia is most likely collector applied as they probably had trouble trying to fold it and sew it correctly.

                    SS Panzer o/s cap

Thanks guys for the opinions. Hey Glenn could very well be as it certainly is not normal this way and I haven't found any pics to compare to. Thanks, Mark.

I'm thinking the same as Glenn.
That TK is a beauty though, really nice.

I agree. Could be done correctly to make a nice overseas cap.

There is every possibility that this insignia was indeed period applied. Look here - a young 12th SS "HJ" Panzer (Panther) crewman member writing home to his mother for a black cap to send to him - even an NSKK cap would do - but had to have no buttons at the front. If this youngster had the intention of himself hand sewing on SS insignia to his mother purchased black cap, I highly doubt that he would have had the skills other than just to "block" them on...such a scenario would have been repeated countless times...

I would just leave it alone. Who knows when done, probably collector done but not sure. Just leave it. Nice cap. I like it.

I would leave it alone as well, who knows , someone may post a photo with insignia applied that way. I have several vet bought SS caps with insignia applied in non standard ways.
