    german artists and the SS

    I ran into this little book, has anyone of you seen something like that before?

    Never seen that one before, Peter - but to me, it appears quite interesting.

    This is one of my favorite books - which may contain some of the works/Artist's shown and/or mentioned in that booklet of yours . . .

      Brad, thank you for showing that book. A couple of years ago, we had an exhibition in Linz about the art of the 3rd reich. Of course, it was shown in a negative way

        Hi,

        in 1944, two "famous" exhibitions were done to promote the SS through art.

        One in Breslau, one in Salzburg.

        Each one had a catalogue for the actual exhibition, the Breslau one being far more common than the Salzburg one.

        Below is the Breslau catalogue front cover (note the embossing in the center).

        As you can imagine, dozen of exhibitions were made during the war to promote the German army.

                  Hi,

                  i was able to find one postcard (top) that i still need to get info on, which may have been done for the two exhibitions.
                  Notice that this same illustration by SS-PK Kriegsberichter Palmowski available in the "Männer der Waffen-SS" 10-postcard collection folder (bottom).
