I don't know. But, a real SS cap on manions is as rare as a complete set of Hitler's testicles.

Everything is possible, but I would not bet on it... I would go for the testicles.

Well, alg. caps are not my thing but I must confess when I saw the interior of this cap it sure looks convincing. Obviously no certain way to tell without having it in hand. But Fred, I would agree, short of testicles on the headgear page, it would be rare -Mike

Manions has fallen by the wayside and indeed a rarity to see real unmessed with stuff. I run through completed items every month and am appauled to see all the $hit pieces go for good cash IMHO

Hard to tell from the size of the photos but I wouldn’t by squat from Manion’s, JMO. I would venture to say about 98.5% of the SS stuff on there is fake.

I think this cap embodies the way the fakers have seized on images in the internet to refine their fiendish works. These images are far from x-ray like, but they put me off. In my lifetime, however, I secured wonderful SS caps from Manion's, circa 1978......

                  This just in................

Manions gets poor sap to spend 900.00 plus commission on crap cap.
They are still getting by on their reputation from the past. Don't know how long they can run on that alone before it all comes to a head. I must say if it were not for this forum I too may have been sucked in.

The interior features of these fake black caps have improved quite a bit, to be sure. This piece, however, remains way, way off. No one should venture into this material unprepared or without resort to expert advice via this medium. Viel Sammlerglueck.

Fred, you opened yourself up on this one. Any number of pot shots are available to any takers.

Manions can have good items. It isnt the norm but sometimes....just sometimes you get something really good. This isnt one of those sometimes for me.

Does anyone have a clue to where these are made? This is well aged, also. It goes beyond the level of larceny visible in the 58 cm Baltic wonders. Germane to the topic of the well known auction house is to examine their material from the early-1970s to the early-1980s by way of contrast. Perhaps someone can post images, if it is legal, or one has the material at hand. The contrast is pretty striking and also instructive for our young colleagues.
