Forgive my ignorance but I admit to knowing nothing about uniforms. I was wondering about the uniform jacket of the officer on the right hand side of picture (C) in the first series. What does the black collar tab on his right hand side indicate? and why is his right hand pocket flap turned up?

Hi Peter, the SS Officer with the blank collar tab will be SD. The pocket flap is just like that due to the angle of the photo and the pockets contents I think you will find.
The wearing of specs was quite common within the Waffen SS. Pre war standards were not applied where the slightest phsyical imperfection (like the much quoted fillings in teeth would stop you from getting into the LAH) would bar you from membership.

What kinde of badge is the Oberführer wearing on his right pocket?

Everybody looking looking and looking at SS helmets, SS uniforms....but the pic with a badge almost never seen in wear! was overseen !!!!!!
....at least someone noticed it... it's the very rare "MOTERSPORT BADGE" he's wearing....

The eyesight standard for German SS volunteers from 1938 onwards was up to 4 dioptres of correction. I suspect that the majority of W-SS foreign volunteer units would accept anyone who reached the basic minimum standards for military service.
