    SS-VT triangular cap eagle

    Hello to All,

I got this triangular SS-VT eagle recently and would like to have a more expert opinion about it. Accurate information about the several variations of these early eagles is hard to find. Such early eagles generally show ugly embroidery and copies often even show a better quality embroidery.
What I like about this eagle is the checkered chest and the use of a silk thread … but I could be wrong.
Many thanks for any expert opinion,
    Mark

The thread on the reverse is much more whiter and there is also a dark gray reinforcement cotton cloth to strengthen the whole embroidery.<O</O

At the pain of being pedantic, the GDC had a thread with numerous authentic examples of these recently. I do not think this piece is authentic, but I cannot tell all the variations, frankly. In my experience, the authentic ones are actually better made than the fakes, but the very close ups are somewhat disorienting. The formation of the swastika is a criterion for me, while others seize upon the creature's head....!!! I know these pieces on the black caps themselves, in fact, and not as loose insignia. Colleague Chapman and Toncar are wise with this stuff, as is Gary Wood, too. Sapere aude!

Thank you Donald for your reply,
I agree with you that one of the first things to look at is the correct shape of the circle with swastika and that is also what I liked also about this eagle.
Concerning the eagle’s head, I have seen some original arm eagles with a similar ‘E.T.’ shaped head, so this does not really disturb me ... but I repeat : I could be wrong !

Below is a close-up of the back.

Thank you for every additional opinion,

I would stay away from this eagle.
The shape is not nice done how we know it from different orginial VT triangle eagles, also on the revers side is something wrong what I don´t know from originals.

Thank you Robert for your comments : could you please give some precision about what is wrong on the reverse ?

Ben, thank you for the link. This link was exactly what lead me to start this thread.

Below are two additional side views of the same eagle, if this can help identifying this eagle.

Again, I sincerely thank you All for your help,
