Nasty and dirty it is! But what about that broad space between the body and wings of the eagle? Never seen that before. Is it a tan bevo sleeve eagle?

Not saying it's not good, but I'm not familiar with this type. Not seen that space with others.

There was one variation I could find with larger gaps between the wings and body and there are several others with smaller gaps.

Ian Hulley and I had a thread running on another forum on every sleeve eagle we could find and this one below was one of them.

I think the brown one in the opening post is a good eagle but the color is what would concern me. It looks more like someone's attempt to color it brown than just a bad coating of dirt.

Come on , no one has coloured it brown that's just silly , they must have the steadiest hand in history , perhaps its just reacted with something or its a darker shade . Rob

My old friend Tony is quite correct, there are other examples of brown sleeve eagles with exactly this shade and also a light green shade (NOT the dark green of the camo hat sets) .... it has never been proved whether they are as they left the factory or not. One theory aired at the time was that they MAY have been a test batch.

Maybe the eagle was wet on the tunic and the dye leched, seen blue rune tabs before due to this

I had a blue eagle that came off a washed tunic.

I won't condemn it from the photos, but I've never seen that one before. Which, admittedly, means squat, but I would proceed with caution.

Why is the wool on the reverse only soiled on the edges, yet the entire front is soiled?

I have plenty of cut Luft Insignia, like smock eagles, where the front might be soiled because it came from a soiled smock, but the edges on the reverse are not soiled. Or insignia that is completely soiled because it was stored badly after it was cut off.

                            I don't like it.

I disagree clearly its not a mint Tan Eagle , its been worn got wet got dirty stretched then crawled through who know what man got killed GI removes it keeps it brings it home slings it in the workshop with his nails and screws it gets more dirty, just becuse you have not seen something does not mean its not real,or IMHO its fake what does that mean have you looked at lots of Tan Eagles still attached to uniform cloth and compared several and come to the conclusion this is a fake sold in the 70's by "Ye Olde Military shoppe" in saskatchwan ? I bet Bob paid very little for it on his motel buy . Obviously if you show me the exact same fake version I will have to alter my opinion. Rob
