    Early Painting Inquiry

Gentlemen , does anyone have any Information on this Painting I have in my possession . I understand there is a genre for this type of art that may be related to the SS . I remember reading some threads earlier about wooden items , tapestries and other objects di Art that are not necessarily SS but some how connected to their attachment to the Germanic past .

It actually quite impressive in my opinion

sorry for the photo through glass and I actually brightened it a bit somewhat darker .

Thank you for your help .

Nice painting, Dennis S. With that emblem/signature, I'm sure you will eventually find someone who can reveal the Artist's name. Not sure about any relation to the SS - there were a great deal of paintings like this doled out in the late 1800's and early 1900's Romantic period. Could be wrong - but think I see a title, "A Joust" - and date of 1902 below the emblem . . . so that may lead you somewhere. Reminds me of something done by a few of the great Artist's I admire - but have to admit, I don't recognize the signature. I can say my interest in piqued, to know who made it - so when time permits, I'll see if I can dig something up. In the meantime, it will be very interesting to me, to watch all of the comments posted here. [and Man - if that doesn't look great on your wall, I know it would on mine!]

Thank you for your kind reply and information provided both past and future.

I Think you are correct ...They do look like jousting lances and it does look like that’s what is written . In my mind it was The way they are overlooking the castle town that looks like they are poised for an attack , but who knows what the artist was thinking .

You are probably thinking of something like this ?

Could be Don Quixote de la Mancha, too.

If that is an original artwork - and not a print - the symbol could also be that of a studio or gallery. It doesn't appear to be hand made - and looks to me, more like it was stamped. I'll ask around - and see if anyone recognizes it . . .

                  For me its an artprint.

Really don't know for certain - but sure appears that way, doesn't it?

I suspected it is ....as it is behind
Glass. I should not have used the word painting .

I thought maybe a cultural item at first .
