    Early EM Embroided Eagle opinion

    Hello,
I was looking up this nice set of pictures made by SS-Kriegsberichter Johannes Bergmann during the french 1940 campaign. I was trying to make out what subvariant of embroided enlisted man version of sleeve eagle was being worn here. I wish I could attach a picture of my Angolia book page of examples.

Which subvariant is being used here?

Looks to be a Wehrmacht eagle. Not uncommon.

Wehrmacht? I do not quite follow.

In Angolia's book on SS Cloth insignia I see 5 variants of embroided EM eagles. I am trying to make out which of those it might be the one used by the Leibstandarte during the french campain in 1940.

It looks nothing like a Heer eagle.

The second one looks like the type that has the legs and feet super-imposed on the embroidery. The first is beneath the photo stamp so I can't say anything about that ... except it's NOT a Heer eagle.

Many thanks. Still trying to figure out which precise subtype this might be.
