Could this be an early Polizei Division officers tunic? (pre Waffen SS merger)
Explanation in photo...
I have owned it since the early 1990's and the prior owner got it while living in Germany. When found it only had the shoulderboards on it which are original to the tunic and Polizei pattern.
The tunic however is field gray...not polizei green... and more army in style,
but with PO(Polizei) markings which you would expect to see on Police issue tunics, caps and equipment.
The "1" could mean "Polizei Schutzen Regiment 1" maybe?
but why would a private purchase officers tunic be unit/property stamped???
Definitely not an army practice these markings but fit Polizei...
