    SS Officer tabs for review

I am trying to work a trade that includes these tabs. But I wanted to be sure. Total paranoia is total awareness.

    Thanks!

I like the tune bullion, but the piping, buckram, and the edge pronged tabs give me pause.

The edge prong pops are not bad.

          To me these look ok.

But if you offered me the runic I'd buy it . . .
Having said that I like this pair of tabs I cant see nothing screaming at me

A few observations to help you make a tough call:

One of the pips does not match the other 2. The prongs are longer. BTW, I prefer to see edge prongs on wartime SS tabs.

To me, the buckram on the rank tab shows more age / wear than the runes tab, so they may not be a true pair. Or it could be my imagination. I too am very cautious about matching pairs of SS tabs.

The piping and the way it's sewn on seems to match. Possibly re-piped to make them look like a true pair? Or they might have been from 2 sources but the piping was added by the tailor prior to sewing them on.

The runes aren't the neatest I've seen, but still within the acceptable range, IMHO.

Provenance, black light and your gut feel are your friends.

                  Thanks guys,
I consider myself at least somewhat educated when it comes to the enlisted versions, and while I have several officers in my own collection the same level of confidence with them has eluded me, given exactly some of the reasons mentioned. I have been very fortunate to be able to acquire tabs from vets/families of vets, so when "pairs" show up from collector world, it does always make me go at it with the assumption they are bad, then work my way backwards to prove they are real. Thank you for your time and opinions. I think I will see what we can do on them. Have a great Memorial Day weekend -for those in the states (and just a great weekend for the rest!)

I'm no expert but I like everything about them but the rank cord. It just looks really thick to me ?

Bullion outer edge is not right and I suspect all will glow under black light / UV lights
                      Please let us know.

You could find better than these, not exactly textbook.
