I'd say a botched attempt to imitate an early pattern SS General's collar tabs. Looks like an imitation for those war movies from the '60s / '70s. SS Generals' tabs were not made this way.

What really annoys me . . .
I wonder what people would do if this forum wasn't here ?
How would they start their own investigations into its originality.
Most likely pester someone else on another forum with that feeble all time famous one liner ~ " is it real " ?
