stripped offz. Tunic from Italian wool

Hi guys,
even though this one looks ok for me, im asking what is the possibility to be a WH tunic?
Im kind of not familiar with the differences in m36 officers tunics cut for WH and SS, but i know there are some.

It appears to be an excellent example of an SS officer or higher ranking NCO tunic, pending a closer examination of the collar.


Slightly canted lower pockets and general pocket profile, collar size, five button front, some plausible shadows - I like it. Liner materials and wear look good too - this one stands a great chance of being real.

what would you say, was there ever a breast eagle attached?
and what is with the collar traces, arent they too long for ss tabs?

Petra, it is hard from the photos to tell what is shadow, discoloration, or wear due to the lighting. In hand, you probably can tell if the tabs were too long and narrow to be SS, and unless the tunic belonged to a police officer in the SS Polizei Division during it's transition, long tabs would likely mean army.

The tunic looks like it has seen some use, but this material does not show fading like regular wool and it could have had a breast eagle. I don't generally trust old thread that alludes to previous insignia - it is a very weak indicator.

So kind of back to you - in hand, are the collar tab impressions that of army insignia, or SS?

From the last two photos, it looks like it had army tabs on it, if I had to guess. A very nice tunic either way.
