skull ring - question

Hello,
What do You think about this ring. I know it is in bad condition, but original or fake? I have only these three pics.

Odd thing. No idea. Certainly seems based on the idea of the “tank tread” ring around since the 20s, but the band almost looks like a trench art thing, a rough solder, and the skull looks like the ones from the “pirate/rivet” skullring. Haven’t a clue. It’s definitely interesting though, kind of cool in a rough made sort of way. But I’ve honestly not seen one like it, I can’t compare for an opinion. Certainly nothing to do with the ss however,,, if period/real- would be a recovered or trench-art thing imho.
