To Zig or not to zig - An Eagle question

I got a tunic with an eagle attached. The stitching is unusual. Now I know zig zag is not an indicator of originality, but is the lack of it? What do you think of this?

It is a correct period style as well as zig zag which is also correct John

that is a blanket stitch I have seen many original eagles sewn on in this way

this stiching is better then sometimes some other stichings what we can find these days
