SS Standard Bearer's Gorget

Greetings!

I believe this to be a high end reproduction. Cloth backing color is wrong. Details to the eagle are somewhat soft. The edges to the links on the chain are too thick and I do not like the eye socket detail on the skulls.

At first glance this SS standard bearer's gorget looks 100% okay, but when having a better look one discovers many mistakes when comparing with
guaranteed originals (David Delich-collection and others). Most of the mistakes are to be found with the eagle and the rosettes. By this I doubt this
one to be original.

I do NOT reveal the mistakes, as fakers are waiting for that. Sorry! Maybe the faker used the photos from my in Germany published gorget-book as samples......

thanks for all comments. I was offered to take this gorget as a partial trade, but also have some doubts. Does anybody have pictures of guaranteed original example to compare?

Compare the wing feathers with a known original and you will see the diference.

I agree ... very close but the details are all wrong if you look carefully. This is a good thread.
