Thanks,I've just found a couple of threads in other forums on WAF,thought this was the best place to post this being its SS so wasn't holding out much hope from what I've read, but thanks for the confirmation.

      Cheers

These are well known die-struck fakes, as you can see the pebbling is too prominent and far different from those found on the originals. You can buy these as fakes from certain websites.
The runes are also supposed to be beveled on the sides for a "type 1", which is what these are trying to be, imo, based on the style of the beveled loop. These are fairly close to the originals overall though, until you learn what to look for. I can see where these could fool many people.

        Just my thoughts,

        Chris

          Hi Chris,
Many thanks for your comments Mate, yes I finally found some threads on these awards,i was looking in the wrong place and once you compare this award with good originals you can clearly see the differences.
          Cheers

Chris has summed it up pretty well.

These can also be found with a 'Type II' style eyelet, which could suggest the utilization of some original parts; and the style of pebbling is quite similar to the infamous postwar Souval (Crown of Thorns) 8 year fake.

              Thanks John,
I rarely come across these awards and wouldn't dream of pulling the trigger without multiple thumbs up,too much money to lose without due diligence these days.

              thanks for your remarks

It is posted in the wrong forum, anyway as the others said, it is a fake medal.

                My books:

                - THE WEHRPAß & SOLDBUCH OF THE WH
                - THE SS TK RING

Is this "Dedicated to SS cloth collecting and anything else SS related" to be understood as only SS-cloth items like leather, camo, aso?

Actually, these fakes are more similar to the "type 2" medals, (minus the finish and the beveled loop). I noticed that the wreath binder looks more like the "type 2" style, (all lines are clearly separated), in addition to the rune style on the front.

Anyway, when I bought one of these as a fake, it said on the website that it was struck from the original dies. I knew that was BS, but I was a bit impressed with the overall quality.

Here is my original "type 1", (top), compared to the fake that I bought, (bottom).

Maybe this will help others to look out for these in the future and if someone has a good closeup
of a "type 2" that they could post, that would help too.

Here is one front picture of a nice "Type 2" that I found for comparison.

                        Hope this helps!

                          Hi Chris,
Yes you can see why these medals cause trouble for the uneducated collector, I was impressed with the overall look of the award, i especially liked the way the runes were struck and thought it had a chance but when he mentioned the price I thought to good to be true, first red flag.
I thank you for your time to post this information and apologies for posting this in the wrong forum..

                          Cheers
